Description

Three Polar Patterns in One The AKG P420 Large-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone has three polar patterns that help to pick up quality audio and reduce ambient noise.
This is very useful for sound technicians who have various audio recording requirements without the need to switch to different microphones.
Each AKG P420 pattern is frequency-independent, so that sound remains uncolored and accurately reproduced- something to remember when buying a microphone.
Cardioid (center setting): This is the standard mode.
It is ideal for speech, vocals, and a wide range of instruments.
It picks up sound coming in front while reducing sound from the sides and rear.
Figure-8 (left-hand setting): Ideal for musical performance.
This mode picks up sound from the front and the rear with equal sensitivity.
It records two sound sources (talkers, instruments) facing each other.
Omnidirectional (right-hand setting): Best for audio production that needs ambiance or audience sound.
This recording setting exceptionally picks up good-sounding large or small recording rooms.
Dual Large Diaphragm The AKG P420 microphone features a true condenser capsule design with two 1″ large diaphragms for easy selection of polar responses.
It also improves the quality of the sound source to make it appear bigger, more engaging, and beautiful to listen to.
The diaphragm is made of a plastic foil sputtered with gold on one side only to prevent shorting to the back electrode, even at extremely high sound pressure levels.
Advanced Audio Technology To provide a better music experience, the AKG P420 features a bass-cut switch on the microphone rear to further reduce low-end distortion.
The filter rolls off at 12 dB/octave from 300 Hz downward.
It is also capable of handling sound pressure levels up to 155 dB without introducing perceptible distortion.
The pad switch on the P420 lets you increase the headroom by 20 dB while the pre-attenuation pad prevents the microphone’s output level, particularly at low frequencies, from overloading the miniature transformers.
Durable Design, All-Metal Body Designed to sustain harsh handling, the P420 microphone from AKG has an all-metal construction that protects the equipment from rough use; and also adds to the rejection of RF interference, so you can use the microphone near transmitter stations and along with wireless microphones or other communications equipment.
The mic also includes a spider-type shock mount and a metal carrying case that absorbs vibration, while also isolating the mic from handling and foot noise.
